I would like to welcome you to the Aurora Northwest Rotary website. We are a club that has been in existence since 1983.
Aurora Northwest Rotary is a very diverse club in regards to its projects both locally and internationally. Here are a couple of highlights of our work:

Literacy is very important to our club. We partner with 5 local elementary schools to provide a book to every 4th and 5th grader to enjoy during the summer months. In the past two years we have handed out over 1000 books.

Each year we reach out to 48 low income families to help make their Christmas a little more special. Food, coats, books, presents and gift certificates along with a special Chuck E Cheese day are provided to each family. This year this project exceeded $10,000 with the help of a Rotary Matching Grant.

Internationally we support our member Dr Frank Walchak and his wife Carolyn through their dedicated involvement with Rotoplast. Rotoplast is committed to changing lives through reconstructive surgery and has performed over 13,000 surgeries in countries around the world.

To make these projects possible, the Aurora Northwest Rotary Club sponsors two key fundraisers: Lilac Century Bike Ride and an Alaska cruise raffle. These fundraisers not only provide the resources for our local and international work but also builds great commodore among our club members.

Aurora Northwest Rotary Club has provided more than 1,000 books for 4th and 5th graders at 5 local elementary schools to help ensure that students do not loose reading skills over the summer. This photo shows the students at Whitman Elementary schools receiving their books.

What Are Our Guiding Principles?
From the earliest days of the organization, Rotarians were concerned with promoting high ethical standards in their professional lives. One of the world's most widely printed and quoted statements of business ethics is The 4-Way Test, which was created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor (who later served as RI President) when he was asked to take charge of a company facing bankruptcy. It was adopted by Rotary in 1943. The test, which has been translated into more than 100 languages, asks the following questions:

1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
We ask each Rotary Club member to live by the Four-Way Test.
Diversity and Rotary
Rotary International recognizes the value of diversity within individual clubs. Rotary encourages clus to assess those in their communities who are eligible for membership, under existing membership guidelines, and to endeavor to include the appropriate range of individuals in their clubs. A club that reflects its community with regard to professional and business classification, gender, age, religion, and ethnicity is a club with the key to its future.
